In a society of witches, trust is a tenuous thing. Especially for a (semi) reformed serial killer. Fitch Farrow believed his win in court washed his hands of his murderous past. But, when he’s given the assignment to kill eight people in four weeks, it becomes clear that some things never change. Working on both sides of the law has Fitch struggling to find balance. The leader of his gang wants those eight people kept alive, turning a murder plot into a mercy mission that complicates things at the Capitol. Meanwhile, investigator Holland Lyle expects Fitch to prove his allegiance to the Capitol by informing on the gang to which he’s still loyal. Keeping Holland in the dark about his undercover work and his own lesser nature becomes increasingly difficult as Fitch debates how much further he’s willing to go down the path of villainy.
