In 1855 Walt Whitman published his first poetry collection, LEAVES OF GRASS, which received great praise. This encouraged what would become a lifelong project as Whitman rewrote the volume until his death in 1892. This clothbound edition, designed by the award-winning Coralie Bickford-Smith, is based on the earliest version of 1855 and features Whitman's most famous poem 'Song of Myself'.
