Harvey has returned from Vietnam tough, cynical and world-weary; his brother, Paul, stayed at home. When they set off on a long skiing trip through the remote Minnesota woods, Harvey is boisterous, while Paul struggles to keep pace. But adventure soon turns to nightmare as a blizzard leaves them hopelessly lost. What they discover about themselves and each other, as they struggle against the elemental forces of nature, history and memory, will change both of them forever.
