As they soared away, something dark moved in the corner of Barclay’s vision. He turned back to the window, and his heart stuttered to a stop. One of the columns of sand had bent away from the storm and stretched out toward them, like a massive hand reaching for a candle flame. No sooner did Barclay scream than the hand closed over them.
