Romance filled with fun, love, friendship and fine food

"Sometimes it's better to embrace your demons and make them your friends."

I absolutely adore this delightful feel-good series. I’m not sure how the author pulls it off, but every book seems to surpass the previous one. This book is definitely my favorite in the Food Truck series.

In this book we follow Sanne. She is in a relationship with Rowèn, a popular and handsome guy who operates a fries food truck. We also follow Marnix, Rowèn's grumpy brother. He is a food scientist who seems to prefer the company of animals over people. While Sanne gets to know Marnix better, she starts to doubt if Rowèn is the best match for her. And, more importantly, will she let go of the insecurities about her body to open herself up - to any man? Find out yourself if there will be a spark between Sanne and Marnix, or if it will all end up in flames and destroy the family...

In the second book we were already introduced to Sanne as Ramona's best friend. She was one of my favourite characters back then, so I was really excited to read about her story. I was immediately immersed in the book thanks to the descriptive writing, which made the story unfold like a movie in my head. The book was written in a dual POV, so you get to know Sanne and Marnix better. They were both complex characters with their own struggles and past traumas and the author did such a good job in describing this. It sometimes felt like I was reading about actual people. The story not only focuses on them, but also introduces several new characters. I liked little Iris right away, because she was such a sweetheart. And of course Henk, because he was such a good friend and collegue to Marnix. While Rowèn was like a walking red flag sometimes, Marnix was like the perfect book boyfriend. I mean, who doesn't want a guy who respects nature and animals and makes you delicious vegetarian snacks?

It was just so unputdownable and I was basically rooting for Sanne and Marnix to come together the entire time. They were both very well-developed characters, which made me form an emotional connection to them. I also loved how the author brought balance to the story by alternating light-hearted and sweet moments with serious topics such as body positivity, past trauma, and loss.

I want to say so much more about this book, but you really should read it yourself. If I haven't convinced you yet:
- the story contains two little pigs called Sjuul & Sjors and a Jack Russell named Dutch
- it has a lot of song references (Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé, etc.)
- you can totally immerse yourself into the delightful world of food trucks and festivals
- it's filled with fun, love, friendship and fine food
