Lezersrecensie
Again a superb feelgood story by Karin Quint
It’s 1946 and Alix Rokebrand desperately needs to find a buyer for her estate. She can’t afford the upkeep of the estate and has bad memories connected to the estate. The Second World War has only just come to an end and who was “right” or “wrong” is still vividly on everybody’s mind. Since there’s a shortage in houses, she gets allocated tenants in her large house. Further her former childhood friend, Christiaan, alerts her that there are rumors going around in town about a war treasure in the ice cellar on her estate. They go on a search together with far reaching consequences for both of them.
Karin Quint has succeeded again in writing a feelgood story. She’s an excellent writer and gives a good impression of how it was directly after the Second World War in the Netherlands, and the repercussions of actions of the characters and others on their lives. The story was gripping from beginning to end. I loved all 3 of the stories so far, all centered around estate Rosaville and looking forward to part 4 in the series.
I listened to the Dutch audiobook.
