Lezersrecensie
A YA fantasy adventure story
I loved reading this book, I was hooked from the start. The story is easy to follow, the world easy to comprehend. It’s a Young Adult story and the style is such. The story focusses on the adventure part and not heavily on world building. Eamonn’s beginning romance with Leyna is well described, as well as his longing for a family. What he can’t find with his father, but what he finds in the Thieves Guild and later on in his relationship with Dorlyss. I loved their relationship evolving from mere mentorship to a father-son relationship. Also his doubts about magic being real and then all that he finds out. He starts with simple wishes at the beginning of the book pursuing a higher education. But at the end wanting to know more about his mother and other things. Initially the book is just from Eamonn’s point of view, but later on the story is told from several characters point of view. The standing between the different characters in the books is well explained when it shifts and why.
All in all I’m looking forward to reading the second (and third) part of this trilogy. I hope there’s more magic, adventure and mystery.
