Foodtruck Fiësta is a delightful feel-good novel that follows Tinus, a young woman who decides to take a break from her studies to pursue her newfound passion for cooking. She falls in love with a retro food truck, complete with a giant ice cream on top. However, her dream quickly hits a roadblock when the truck breaks down, forcing her to seek help from Mats, her childhood love and an auto restorer.

This book is funny, fast-paced, and heartwarming. I loved how the story unfolded from both Tinus’s and Mats’s perspectives. The smooth transitions between their points of view allow readers to connect deeply with both characters and understand their emotions and backgrounds. The author also does a fantastic job of creating believable and lovable side characters—they feel very natural and relatable. That being said, Wouter-Jan definitely gave me the creeps!

Beyond the romance and humor, Saskia M.N. Oudshoorn weaves in deeper themes, such as dyslexia, a pushy colleague, and a mother who abandoned her family. These serious topics add depth to the story, but thanks to the book’s humor and hopeful tone, it never feels too heavy.

A surprising revelation about Mats at the end adds a new perspective to past events, making his story feel complete as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this feel-good novel. It left me smiling and eager to dive into the sequel, Funky Food Truck.
