Pride and Prejudice in de boekenclub
Falling for my Butler by Callie More is ad addition to an already lovely romance series: The Cranberry Creek Book Club Series. In each book of this series, she takes a beloved classic novel that the ladies of the book club are reading and discussing, but at the same time she takes that book for a spin for events in real life. And that is why I love reading this series.
In Falling for My Butler, she takes my all-time favourite classic book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Many of us know the story of Elizabeth Bennett and the stoic Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth will always be my Mr. Darcy). Ruby is a somewhat older woman who runs a B & B and also loves her work at the Community Centre, but she can be a bit scary: she loves order and that can sometimes be intimidating. At the same time there is Matt who wants a challenge from his assisting role to Robert (who starred in his own novel in the Book Club Series). When the two meet, sparks fly, because Ruby does not need someone who wants to help her. She can do it on her own (and do it her own may, is maybe more important).
I loved how Callie More gave Matthew a role in this book. He and Ruby have a good chemistry and when Matthew helps a young boy, all three of them get to spend more time together and this way Matthew and Ruby get to know one another better. I loved the scenes with Nicholas; those were so sweet and adorable. The discussion about P & P are just great, I could totally understand all the feeling each of the ladies got for reading the book. And it was just fantastic who of the characters in P & P were matching with those in Falling for my Butler (you just have to read the book and find out for yourself).
The writing is Falling for my Butler is flowing and the book is so easy and relaxing to read.
I have read a lot of books by Callie More and I loved reading them. But Falling for My Butler is one of my favourites, just because she took Pride and Prejudice and made up a story about that book. I can’t wait what classic book she will take up next!
