Lezersrecensie
Het laatste deel, helaas, van een fantastische hockey romance serie
When photographer Willa in Penalties and Proposals by Anne Kemp comes to Maple Falls to photograph the charity hockey tournament so she can get a promotion, she has no idea she will meet the hockey player she booted from her set some years ago when he showed up drunk. But fate has a will of its own.
From the very first I loved Willa. She is determined and wants to help her Mom financially, so she really wants that promotion. But then she has also to spend time with said hockey player to take his photos for a magazine. Noah has not quite forgotten her, has been making apologies all over and is a different man than he was. Their interactions makes that Willa sees him in another light and Noah does his best to win her over. They have a great chemistry and Noah is a such a great character. Willa can be fierce, and that is best shown when Noah’s ex turns up.
Their walks around the small town is described so well, I could see it before my eyes. Anne Kemp tells at the end of the novel how she would love to visit this town if it was real. Maple Fall really is like Stars Hallow, Gilmore Girls town, Willa says so herself, so that was great to read. And there are some easter eggs in the novel: one is when Willa visits Fall for Books, the bookshop, she gets in a conversation with the owner Emmy, and she recommends Willa some books. Guess what books she tells Willa to read!
The writing style is flowing and the book is so easy and lovely to read. Of course there is some drama and I loved how Noah lets Willa take her time to think things over.
Penalties and Proposals is the last book in the Love on Thin Ice series and it is a bit sad it is ended now. I loved this series from the very first and enjoyed reading the books. It is a great idea and I loved how it all takes place during the time of the hockey tournament, but each book has a different couple and story, while at the same time we see characters from earlier books.
If you want to read a sweet hockey romance series, with a lovely setting, great characters, a good story line, this is the series for you. Each book is a standalone, but I would recommend starting with the first book and work your way through them all. This way you can enjoy the series even more.
Highly recommended!
