The past comes back.
Local gone missing starts slowly when a local, someone everybody knows and likes in a small town, goes missing. Detective Inspector Elise King is due to illness not on active duty and partners up with her neighbour to find out informati, pretending to be two worried neighbours of the missing local man. I was a bit worried that the story would be led till the end by the new "concerned" neighbours, but luckily it picked up when Elise went back to work.
Quickly Local gone missing becomes a fast paced detective story in which we get a lot of information, bit by bit making a link with other known information so that a bigger clearer story is being created. Or that is what I thought.
Fiona Barton wrote a believable story in which you think you manage to put the information together, have a feeling about what has happened... but you keep being misled!
The story was really well written, good characters and a great feeling as a reader, because I felt like my own detective trying to solve the crimes!
