Lezersrecensie
Albus Dumbledore: "It is our choices, Harry, that show us who we truly are. Far more than our abilities."
philosoper's stone multiple times, but always got distracted and never got to finishing the series. I have watched the movies so... you may call me a half-blood if you like. Here we are, cathing up with reading the series. Now I only need to make sure I buy the rest of the anniversary editions with money that I don't have.
About the book.. I gave The philosopher's stone 4,5 stars, with rooms for improvement. And let's say... Improvement was definitely made. I loved this book! The writing style was easygoing and magical. J.K. Rowling wrote a children's book that is very much fun to read for adults also. Somehow, she managed to make it seem like the characters aged up a year in comparison to the last book. You can literally see them grow up. Which made this book easier to read.
Rowling choose svery careful which information she is going to add in which book, which causes an amazing world building. Everything from the first book comes back in this second part.. Plus More! New creatures, new magic, more depth in the characters. She literally thought of everything. I will warn you before reading this book. There is A LOT going on. There are so many things happening and so many suspicious characters to look into.. You really need to concentrate and write things down. Reading this book, I now get why I always forget what parts happend in what movie, because it's a lot to take in. But still, once you're finished, everything comes together in a big plottwist and not only that, you just want to keep reading.
I loved the humor in this book. I have laughed so many times during this book, I can't even count.
Harry Potter will always be a favorite I guess. I just can't think of anything bad in this book and I urge everyone and anyone who hasn't read Harry Potter yet, to pick up the books or watch the movies. You won't be dissapointed.
I can't do anything other than rating this book 5 stars. I could make a very long review, talking about every deatil, but, I'm not the kind to spoil all the fun stuff so reading it would be your best option :P
I can't wait to start the half blood prince!
Quotes from the book that I liked:
- Hermione Stranger: "Fear of a name only increases the fear of the thing itself"
- Albus Dumbledore: "It is our choices, Harry, that show us who we truly are. Far more than our abilities."
- Ron Weasly: "Hearing voices no one else can hear is never a good sign. Not even in the wizarding world."
- Arthur Weasly: "Never trust anything that can think for itself, if you can't see where it keeps its brain."
- Albus Dumbledore: "Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it."
- Draco Malfoy: "Honestly, if you were any slower, you's be going backwards."
- Gilderoy Lockhart: "Books can be misleading."
- Ron Weasly: "When in doubt, go to the library.
