This thriller picks up where we left Robert Hunter in the previous book, ‘An Evil Mind’, and he just arrives back at his office after catching a manipulative killer. Garcia had doubts about coming back to work after his wife was threatened in ‘One by One’ but he can’t leave the job or Robert so he’s back in the game.
And just when they are back a new body turns up, near the Los Angeles International Airport, spread out in a five-point star. She was abducted seven days before and during her disappearance she was tortured. The killer sends letters to the mayor and to Robert, signed ‘I am Death’!
It’s up to Robert and the LAPD’s Special Section, Ultra Violent Unit, to find a killer that toys with his victims and the detectives. And to find and decipher the clues to who he really is.
While the search for the killer, who’s leaving more bodies for them to collect, is going on a boy is abducted and mistreated by his kidnapper.
