Lezersrecensie
Raw, honest, sincere. The perfect punk memoir.
5⭐ Wow. It’s my new favourite book of ALL TIME.
It’s written with such fearless honesty. It’s raw and sincere. Her writing style is simple and direct (in a good way), supporting that. She doesn’t glorify any of the harsh sides of her life or the times and places she lived in. It was interesting and insightful.
I loved and cherished every single page of this book. It took me two months to finish – not because I couldn’t get through it, but because I didn’t want it to end. So yesterday, of course, I punched myself when I finally finished it.
What I personally found very interesting, was that on one hand Viv and I are very different from each other, but on the other hand I could also relate to certain things. I loved reading about her experiences, how she thought about things, how she described everything. Her braveness, determination, devotion and attitude to go after the things she loved to do, are truly inspiring.
I’ve lauged and cried and I tabbed the heck out of this book. Things I found emotional, funny or interesting; bands or songs I wanted to look up later; things that spoke to me. I’ve never read a book in my life that resonated with me as much as this one did. I think I’ll never forget it.
This was the first memoir I ever read. Since it was such a positive experience, I’m definitely planning on reading more (music) memoirs/(auto)biographies.
