The intersection between sports and writing

When I was rowing everyday the last two years while at the same time studying Philosophy and Literature, I felt like I was maneuvering through two distinct social worlds. I did not often find people who shared both hobbies at the same time, which made me have the impression that sports and humanities cannot go together. Murakami however, argues against this idea in this memoir; he is convinced that a good writer has similar capacities as a good runner. They both have a strong will: they show consistency and perseverance and have to practice their hobby everyday. As someone who wants to become a better writer, I found this short book very inspiring: it proofs to me that if I want to improve my way with words, I need to treat my body with respect as well. And it reminded me that consistency is key for achieving your goals!
