What a ride!
Wow, what a ride! Spider to the Fly is one of those thrillers that grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go.
J.H. Markert’s writing is smooth and detailed, giving you just the right amount of description without ever feeling long-winded. You just have to keep reading—seriously, putting this book down was nearly impossible for me.
The tension builds up brilliantly throughout the story. It starts off intriguing, but before you know it, you’re on the edge of your seat, heart pounding, unable to turn the pages fast enough. By the time I reached the final stretch, my heart was racing! It’s been a while since a thriller made me hold my breath like this.
The characters are well-developed and likable.
They have just the right amount of depth—enough to make you care without bogging down the pace.
And the plot? Absolutely fascinating, gruesome, and complex. I was guessing until the very end, constantly trying to piece everything together. A well-constructed mystery always keeps you engaged, and this one nailed it.
That being said, while the ending was well-executed, it didn’t feel completely satisfying to me. Two things in particular stuck with me—I really wanted to know what happened to Jon, and I needed more closure around the other twins. Those unanswered questions left me craving just a little bit more.
But overall? If you’re looking for a thriller that will give you a full-on adrenaline rush, J.H. Markert is your man!
