Lezersrecensie
EPIC read from start to finish!
4.5 stars (rounding up because the sheer world-building deserves it) and because this series has potential!!
Not sure if this book is for you? Let me paint you a picture—ACOTAR-style. If Feyre had been forced to marry Tamlin, but then found Rhysand on the battlefield and yeeted herself into his arms… only to be dragged back to the Spring Court, dismantle it from the inside, and get caught in the most chaotic, gods-drenched, prophecy-fueled drama you can imagine—yeah, that’s the vibe. And that’s just the first 150 pages. Buckle up, buttercup!
Holy. Shit. This book felt like reading an entire ACOTAR/TOG saga in one volume. So much happens, and while I loved the intensity, I also couldn’t shake the feeling that this would have thrived as a 5-book series. There’s a sequel coming, but part of me wishes we got to marinate in the relationships, lore, and drama over multiple installments. Just imagine:
• Book 1: Diana and Aiden? Looks like endgame.
• Book 2: Turns out they’re more princess/bodyguard vibes, and the real romance is shifting toward Keres.
• Book 3: THAT major cliffhanger moment.
• Book 4 & 5: Chaos, betrayals, and maybe, just maybe, a different romance endgame?? Who knows? Not me! But wouldn’t that be fun?!
Let’s talk hurdles:
This book comes with a dictionary. Not even joking—there’s a full glossary at the front, and I was flipping back and forth constantly to remember who was who and what meant what. The names? Gorgeous, but dangerously similar. At one point, I was drowning in an Aeneas/Anaïs/Aloïs soup, and that’s before we even get to the Erebus/Evelynn/Ellowyn/Elyon/Eiran situation. But it’s worth it, I PROMISE that all the names will make sense by the end!
Another thing: the POV situation. Technically, we follow Aedlynn and Diana, but the actual narration jumps to whoever is in the room at any given time. At first, I was like, Wait… whose head am I in?? Eventually, I just rolled with it—Aedlynn/Diana’s name at the start of the chapter = their storyline, but beyond that? Free for all. Eventually, it settles into mainly Diana’s POV, so if you’re confused at first, just keep going!!
Final thoughts? This book is epic! It’s big, bold, ambitious, and packed with so much potential. I am DESPERATE for the sequel. If you love intricate mythology, high-stakes drama, and a plot that does not quit, then this is the book for you!
