Here One Moment
Here One Moment has an interesting premise: an elderly woman, known as the "Death Lady," makes eerie predictions on a flight about when and how each passenger will die. At first, the passengers don’t take her seriously, but over time, her predictions start coming true, leading to a sense of unease among them.
The story struggles with a large cast of characters, which makes it difficult to connect with any of them. The narrative jumps between different perspectives, and we never really get a deep understanding of the characters, especially Cherry, the "Death Lady.
While the book explores how the characters react to knowing their own death, it often feels repetitive. The emotions of denial, fear, and paranoia are explored multiple times, but they don’t evolve much over the course of the story, which makes parts of it feel slow and drawn-out. At times, it was hard to stay engaged, and I found myself feeling bored as the plot dragged on.
While there are a few storylines, that hold some interest, the overall pacing of the book made it difficult to stay focused. The build-up to the ending was long-winded, and when the conclusion finally arrived, it was disappointing. It didn't offer the satisfying payoff one might expect from a book with such an intriguing premise.
Ultimately, while the concept had potential, the story felt too drawn out and failed to deliver the excitement or resolution it promised.
