Hockey Romance

This was the second book I read in the Seattle Scorpions and I even liked this more than book number 3! I can't wait to circle back to read book 1 and 2 and see where it all started with this series!
In Ruled Out we follow Mia and Jessie. They used to date in secret when they were younger. When Jessie was a part of the hockey team in Dallas and Mia's dad was the GM of his team. After a couple months of dating, her dad found out and was not amused. He made sure that Jessie got traded to a team far away in Seattle.
Fast forward a couple of years and Mia goes to college in Seattle. Jessie finds out and obviously he can't stay away. He has been longing for her and struggling with alcohol abuse, while playing pro hockey. And I was all-in for this second chance! While they start dating again, Jessie finally opens up to Mia about his past, parents, and the tough childhood he had. Mia doesn't judge but helps him feel seen and with her in his life he has a purpose to live again and starts to better his life.
I love how real the characters felt and they had a real back story. It's a hockey romance, so obivously it's a part of the story but it wasn't the most important part of the story, the characters and their growth was more important and I really liked it!
It comes with a couple TWs so if you are easily triggered please check those out before starting this book! If you like hockey, second chance, found family, he falls first and can't stay away, bad boy vs good girl, and mental health rep this book is for you!
