All These Worlds: Bob’s Finest (and Toughest) Hour

ThaFreeze 23 april 2025
The third Bobiverse book ramps things up and pays off so much of what was set up in the first two. All These Worlds is fun, smart, emotional, and full of great character moments. It’s easily one of the strongest entries in the series, and left me feeling both satisfied and a little sad that it was over.

By now, the Bobiverse has expanded into something massive. Dozens of Bobs, scattered across the galaxy, each evolving in their own direction. Some are exploring, some are defending colonies, some are questioning what it even means to exist this way. And yet the story remains easy to follow thanks to clear writing and the excellent narration by Ray Porter.

The audiobook was again top-notch. Porter brings consistency across the series, and he makes each Bob voice distinct in subtle but clear ways.

The storyline with the Others hit its peak in this book. After the build-up in book two, their threat becomes real and immediate. The way they systematically strip planets of life is chilling. It’s not just war. It’s annihilation. Watching the Bobs try to outsmart them while juggling other responsibilities was intense.

There was a real sense of time passing and civilizations rising and falling. The Bobs start to realize they can't just solve everything. They’re powerful, but they’re not gods.

One of the most surprising additions was Bridget. Her arrival as a non-Bob consciousness inside the Bobiverse was unexpected, and it brought new energy to the story. She offers a human point of view without being stuck in the past. Her relationship with Bob Prime was one of the warmest parts of the book.

“It was strange, sharing a reality with someone who remembered what it felt like to be human, while I had to reach back centuries for the memory.”

Then there were the more emotional beats. Bob reflecting on time, loss, and what’s left after hundreds of years of watching, helping, and sometimes failing. One moment, in particular, really hit hard when he had to face the reality that some things can’t be fixed.

“You’d think living forever would give you perspective. Turns out it just gives you a longer view of your mistakes.”

[End Spoilers]

All These Worlds sticks the landing. The humor is still there, the science is still cool without being overwhelming, and the emotional moments carry more weight than I expected. It’s not just about expanding a universe. It’s about what kind of person you choose to be when you're no longer human, but still care.

If you've enjoyed the first two books, this one is a must. It gives closure to a lot of threads, leaves room for more, and makes you feel like you’ve been part of something big. And very personal.
