"I'll step outside the lines of everything I've ever counted on, everything I thought defined the world, if that's what it takes for you to realize how far I'll go for you. What I'm willing to risk."
Cursed in Love by Emily Colin is the story of graphic designer Rune, who has a gift (or curse, more likely) to see the future, but no one believes her. When she has to work with Mr. Ice Man himself, data engineer Donovan Frost (what’s in a name?), they do not hit it off, even though there is an attraction. When Rune gets sucked into more dangerous premonition, she gets help in unexpected places, while it seems she can’t trust anyone anymore.
Wow! This book was such a fantastic read and story! From the very first I had a hard time putting the book down, thanks to the mystery, the writing style and of course thanks to Rune. She is a wonderful and great character. I immediately felt for her: she tries to do her best, save people, and it is kind of frustrating no one believes her. Donovan Frost is her total opposite, he loves data and analyses anything and everything. He is a bit obnoxious, but has charm as well, and he is good-looking too. Their work relationship is also mysterious, because they don’t know what they are working on. When Rune, who does not know who she really is and where she comes from, tries to find out who her parents were, things get dangerous really fast.
I loved the mystery, together with Rune (and Donovan) I tried to get to know more. Emily Colin builds on the mystery step by step. I wanted to read slower, because I did not want the book to end too soon, but at the same time I kept turning the pages.
The story-line and worldbuilding, together with Rune’s curse, is very well thought out. The story is filled with many unexpected twists and turns, many chapters ended with a sort of cliffhanger, so I had no choice but to read on. The chemistry between Rune and Donovan is off the charts and because of her curse, she really should stay away. Near the end the suspense is enormous and the revelation at the end, who the bad guy is/was and what he wanted to achieve, came unexpected.
I have read earlier books by Emily Colin, The Seven Sins series, a fantasy series which I loved. Cursed in Love is a magical suspense full and romantic story, a whole lot different than The Seven Sins series. I find it amazing, that someone can write two different genre novels, and both are so great!
If you want to read a mesmerising story, filled with magic, danger, betrayal, found family, romance, a story with a flowing and fast paced writing style, great world-building, two star-crossed lovers who are destined to be together, banter, flirting and many unexpected turns, do read Cursed in Love. In enjoyed reading this book a lot and I can’t wait to read more books by Emily Colin.
This book is one of the best books that I have read!
Highly, highly recommended!
