Abject lesson in compassion
This book is not for the faint of heart.
For once, I agree with adding the trigger warnings added in the beginning. Though the gory details are left out, the implications are enough to put any compassionate human being off their tea.
Nevertheless, this was an interesting read and reiterated for me that you can never judge a stranger at face value. Be kind to those around you, no matter how short your interaction.
It also brings to mind the quote: “The worst kind of evil is the indifference of good men.”
Let this book, or even this review, urge you to act if you know wrong is being done. Abuse, in whatever form, is never acceptable.
Cabinet of Confessions takes you on a journey of misery and relentless determination to see the other side; if there is another side.
The writing style is easy to read, yet for its ease emphasises all the horridness of the story.
A must read for anyone dealing with their own demons, and for anyone who caring for someone going through a rough patch.
